Danny M.'s Story
Hey Everyone,
As you know, I'm the type of guy that likes to stay in touch with my friends and classmates. Here is a brief history of my life.
After graduation, I went off to college, like most of us did. On 1 December 1967, I married Linda Parrish. Linda was not from Ballinger. We have been married for 41 years. I believe I was the first guy to get married from our class.
We raised two lovely daughters. Michelle and Nikki. Michelle, Tom, and our grandson, Baylee, live in Florida and Nikki, Wayne, and our granddaughter,Taylor, live in Tennessee.
During college, I worked for an investment company. In September of 1971, I joined the Air Force and served four years. My last duty assignment in the Air Force was on the island of Guam. In 1975, I finished my tour of duty in the Air Force. I continued my education and in 1976, I enlisted in the Army. In 1981, while stationed in Germany I received a Direct Commission to First Lieutenant. I served as a Company Commander from 1984 - 1986 at Fort McCellan, AL. I served in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm War from 1990 - 1991. In 1991, I was promoted to the rank of Major. I serv...Expand for more
ed as a Battalion Executive Officer from 1992 to 1993.
Throughout my military career, I served in various duty assignments and locations. I retired in 1994, as a Major, with nearly 23 years in service.
Upon my retirement from active duty, I started a second career and became the Senior Army Instructor for the Lanett High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program. I'm in my 15th year teaching our future leaders. Lanett, Alabama is on Interstate 85, 80 miles from Montgomery, AL and 80 miles from Atlanta, GA.
When you look at the now picture of me on my profile, I was at a JROTC Drill Team competition in November 2008, with our Cadets. My then picture was taken at Bearcat Stadium in the fall of 1966, my senior year (SY 1966 - 1967).
This is some information about me. Time is going fast, but friends and classmates will always last. It is hard to believe that we (Class of 67) are now members of the 60 Club.
Give me a call or send an e-mail.
Please stay in touch! If you are coming this way, let me know so we can get together.
Your friend and classmate,
Danny
